Here is a free solution for converting your DVD movies to iPod.
As with any free program, there are trade-offs. The trade-off here is that the process is slower (but not bad) than using DVD to iPod conversion software packages that you pay for.
Another trade-off is that one of the programs (Videora) that you will be using will have lots of advertisements on them. Most of them are harmless; but every now and then you will see advertisements encouraging you to download software because in viruses have been detected on your computer. DO NOT download or install those programs, they are malware products that can harm your computer.
So, ignore them. If you find that you are unable to dismiss what appears to be a download of a spyware scanning program, simply cancel and restart Videora and start again. Chances are you will not see that online scanner ad again. [Don't forget to look at the video tutorial at the end of the article]
Programs You Will Need
- DVD Decrypter – Used to rip your DVD movie to your hard drive. Download Here.
- Videora – Free DVD to iPod Converter. Download Here.
Procedure
1. Install and start DVD Decrypter. Go to Mode/File and select IFO I. Figure 1

2. Next, go to Tools/Settings. Figure 2

3. Select the IFO Mode tab. Then under Options/File Splitting pull down and select None. Figure 3

4. Once back on the main screen, click on the Stream Processing tab. Figure 4

5. Check the Enable Stream Processing box and uncheck everything except the first two boxes. Figure 5

6. Click on the Start Ripping button at the bottom to start the ripping process. Figure 6

At this point you may close DVD Decrypter.
DVD to iPod Concersion with Videora
1. Start Videora and click on the Video File link. Figure 9

11. Navigate to the location of your ripped DVD movie and the select the *.vob file inside the VIDEO_TS folder. Figure 11.

12. Specify an output location for the *.MP4 file that will be created. Figure 12

14. Modify the video settings, if desired. I recommend leaving them at the default settings shown in Figure 14.

18. iTunes – Once the conversion is complete, the video will be automatically added to iTunes. To place the video on your iPod, simply sync your iPod with iTunes. Figure 18
