There are many review websites that mention what they believe is the best DVD Copy software. Most of what I read are honest reviews. Some of that I read are opinions and not reviews at all. Makes one wonder if these reviewers actually review or use the software themselves.

In all actuality, there are about five really good DVD Copy software programs out there. When I say really good, I mean they do a very good job at producing great copies of your DVD movies that run well when you play them back in your home entertainment DVD player.

Out of the five there are only two that stand out: 1Click DVD Copy 5 and it's big sister 1Click DVD Copy Pro. Why do I say this?

It is because the company – LG Software Innovations – has a longer development history than all of their competitors. This is a statistic that is often overlooked when purchasing DVD Copy software. Why is that?

Because longer software development histories means a greater time interval exists for refining and perfecting  the product in working out the bugs; so that in the end, a superior and stable product is produced. In other words, the product has gone through the wringer and come out on the other side a great product. Such is the case with 1Click DVD Copy 5 and 1Click DVD Copy Pro. These programs simply work and are solid performers.

Right from the start when these DVD Copy programs are installed, you can feel the stability and power when they are run, You feel confident that they are going to work; and work well.

My personal favorite is 1Click DVD Copy Pro. I like the additional features that it's smaller sister does not have. These include the DVD Copy presets. I can elect to copy the entire movie with the extras or just the movie without the extras. I can perform a near-DVD copy or a bit-by-bit, block-by-block copy which produces and exact copy of the original movie. I can elect to copy episodic DVD movies, control the amount of compression I want (which determines the copy quality). I can include or exclude subtitles; and I can choose to copy onto a regular DVD-5 or larger DVD-9 format.

I have an iPod Classic (Figure 1) which on occasion freezes. Recycling the power switch on the top does no good. If this happens to you, here a procedure that will unfreeze your iPod Classic. Don't worry, you will not lose any music, videos, or anything else you have on your iPod.

Refer to Figure 2 below for the location of the two keys you will have to press to unfreeze your iPod Classic.

Step 1. Toggle the Hold Switch on and off several times. Return it to the Off position.

Step 2. Press and hold at the same time, the Menu and Center buttons until the Apple logo appears on the iPod display. The apple logo should appear anywhere from 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

• If you are still experiencing a problem resetting your iPod Classic, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Center button is not touching any part of the Click Wheel. Also be sure that you are pressing the Menu button towards the outside of the click wheel, not near the center.
   
• If the above mentioned steps do not work, then try connecting your iPod Classic to its power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect the iPod to your computer via the USB cable. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn’t set to go to sleep.

The above procedures work 95% percent of the time. If not, then you may have a defective device. Don't get mad. Set your device down and come back later and try the above procedures again. After you have tried unsuccessfully, let a friend or relative give it a try; especially if you have very large fingers.

A friend of mine was going to actually toss his iPod after several unsuccessful attempts. I tried the two step procedure on the first try and unfroze it for him.

These things may give the product a perceived add value, but it also makes the program more bulky, not as easy to use, and more problem prone.

A focused product, that is, one that is created to copy just DVD movies, or one that is created to just convert DVD movies to iPod format will work faster and will be less problem prone. This is what you will find in the 1Click DVD Copy and 1Click DVD Copy Pro products.

I have personally used and written reviews on other DVD Copy software products that integrate other conversion functionality other than just copying DVD movies. A common denominator I have found in almost all of them is that they seem to work very hard to accomplish the tasks for which they were created. It is not that they do not work, but in relation to the 1Click DVD Copy product, they do not work as well or as fast. This is logical because the program as other items integrated into them making the programming code in which they were created "Binarily Fat."  A good comparison of programs we are all familiar with is the old Microsoft Windows 98 Operating System as compared to Windows XP. 

By comparison, the Windows 98 operating system was Binarily smaller than Windows XP. This means that Windows 98's programming code was smaller and so the program ran faster than Windows XP (which is Binarily Fatter) under the same PC configuration conditions (processing power, memory, etc). Additionally, that Windows XP and Windows Vista are Binarily fatter, take longer to load, run slower, and they contain more bugs. That is why we see the constant barrage of Microsoft updates to patch those bugs. This is also why more computer processing power is required to run these new Binarily fatter programs.

Likewise, that the 1Click DVD Copy product is Binarily smaller than many of the other integrated DVD Copy software products, they will will run lean and sweet on your computer producing a superior copy of your DVD movies.

I felt compelled to write this article because many believe that when they purchase those DVD Copy software products that do a whole lot more than just copy DVD movies, that they are getting more bang for the buck. That is not the case. The reality is that there are trade offs that can lead to failed or substandard DVD copies. Even more, to user frustration and dissatisfaction.

So when shopping around for DVD copy software products, look for those which are focused on just accomplishing that task: Copying DVD movies.
